Kill Steen Kill..Wrestling Best Champion

Kevin Steen is if not at the top of my list of current faves in the ring , than by geez, his close.

He was raised in the province of Quebec, Canada, Steen participated in a lot of sports such as hockey, polo, soccer and baseball. Kevin never considered to develop a career out of any of those sports, especially soccer after suffering an injury at age 11.

Instead, he considered becoming a professional wrestler after watching a VHS tape of WrestleMania XI with his father.

Steen is married and has a son named Owen. In May 2008 at the end of the event DDT4 Night One, then–six month old Owen recorded his first professional wrestling victory by pinning Excalibur. Steen delivered three package piledrivers in a row and then placed his infant son on top of Excalibur and a three count was made.

The first time I saw him or even heard of him,  was a couple of years ago in RoH when he was tagging with Generico, I liked his work in that tag team, BUT, then he turned on his masked compadre and Steen took off like a skyrocket, the fued on RoH tv with Generico (with Steve Corino and Colt Cabana doing their bit ) was just plain awesome.l..the match at Final Battle when Generico kicked his arse was brilliant, he was "fired" from RoH for losing so I thought Id better get some stuff of his ..so after checking with a mate stateside , he put me onto Pro Wrestling Guerilla, and so I got my Steen fix after getting a couple of KurtRussell Reunion shows......His re-apparance in RoH has been brilliant, I cant tell for sure if there is actual heat between Cornette and Steen, although it wouldnt surprise me...

His two matches with Davey Richards over the RoH World belt were some damn fine ring work, I usually think Richards is a bit tedoius but Steen brought something out of him during those two matches....He has had some cracker matches since getting the big belt at RoH..matches with Chikara Grand Champion,Eddie Kingston and House of Truth members Rhyno, Michael Elgin have been some fine hitouts...he recently recieved a box delivered to him after the Michael Elgin match that had El Generico's mask in it ...fun times ahead indeed.

Steen currently splitting his time between, most notably California-based Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Ring of Honor. He is currently in his first reign as the ROH World Champion and in his third reign as the PWG World Champion......Steen is a former three-time PWG World Tag Team Champion, twice with El Generico and once with Super Dragon. Steen is the only wrestler in PWG history to have won the World Championship three times.

Kevin first developed an interest in professional wrestling after watching a match between Shawn Michaels and Diesel at Wrestlemania XI at the age of 11. Three years later, his parents allowed him to start training with Serge Jodoin, a wrestler based in Quebec. The following year, he began training with Jacques Rougeau, who by all accounts , Steen isnt too impressed by,  Steen had his first match on his sixteenth birthday in L'Assomption, Quebec on May 7, 2000. Steen trained with Rougeau and wrestled for Rougeau's promotion for four years, before beginning to wrestle with several other Canadian promotions, including the International Wrestling Syndicate.

Teaming and feuding with El Generico (2007–2009)
On February 17, 2007, Steen returned to Ring of Honor, teaming with El Generico in a losing effort to the Briscoe Brothers.

At Driven, the Briscoe Brothers defeated Steen and El Generico to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Steen and Generico then suffered three consecutive losses to the Briscoes at Caged Rage in a Steel Cage match, Manhattan Mayhem II in a two out of three falls match, and Man Up in a ladder match. Their only tag team win over the Briscoes was at Death Before Dishonor V Night 1 in a non–title Boston Street Fight.
On June 6, 2008, Steen and Generico participated in a one night tournament to crown new ROH World Tag Team Champions. They defeated Go Shiozaki and ROH World Champion Nigel McGuiness in the first round and Chris Hero and Adam Pearce in the second round before losing to Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black in the finals.
At a pay-per-view taping in Boston on September 19, Steen and Generico beat The Age of the Fall to finally win the ROH World Tag Team Championship. This also fulfilled Steen's promise of winning a title in ROH before the November 21 Dayton show. They lost the championship to The American Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards) at a television taping on April 10, 2009.

On December 19, 2009, at Final Battle 2009, ROH's first live pay-per-view, after a loss to The Young Bucks, Steen turned heel by attacking his tag team partner El Generico.
At the following pay-per-view, The Big Bang!, Generico and Cabana defeated Steen and Corino via disqualification, when Steen used a chair on his former partner
On June 19 at Death Before Dishonor VIII, Steen defeated El Generico in a singles match.
On September 11 at Glory By Honor IX Generico and Cabana defeated Steen and Corino in a Double Chain match, when Cabana forced Corino to tap out....After the match Steen attacked El Generico and unmasked him.

On December 18 at Final Battle 2010 Steen and Generico ended their year–long feud in an unsanctioned Fight Without Honor, where Steen put his ROH career on the line against Generico's mask. In the end El Generico won the match and thus forced Steen out of ROH

Prior to the outcome, on November 4, 2010, Kevin Steen's contract agreement with Ring of Honor ended due to financial budget concerns, which ultimately played a role within the stipulations of the match.

Wrestling's Worst Nightmare (2011–present)
Steen returned to Ring of Honor on June 26, 2011, at Best in the World 2011, being introduced by Corino, who had turned face shortly after Steen's departure from the promotion and claimed that he needed redemption as well. However, ROH officials forced him to leave the arena before he could show that he was a changed man. After Corino was defeated by Michael Elgin, Steen ran in to save him from a beatdown at the hands of the House of Truth, but ended up turning on him and his sponsor Jimmy Jacobs. Afterwards, Steen was dragged out of the arena, while Jim Cornette swore that he would never again wrestle for ROH.

The storyline continued on July 22, when Steen invaded ROH's official message board, writing posts praising Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. On September 15 ROH's message board was "hacked" to redirect to a video, where Steen announced his intention of attending ROH's Death Before Dishonor IX the following weekend. At the pay-per-view on September 17, Steen interrupted a match between El Generico and Jimmy Jacobs and called out Steve Corino, who was at the time wrestling in Japan, before powerbombing Jacobs on the ring apron. Steen was then confronted by Jim Cornette and ROH president Cary Silkin, whom he tried to Package Piledrive, before being ushered out of the arena by the security.

On the November 5 edition of Ring of Honor Wrestling, Steen reappeared with Ohio Valley Wrestling talent Christian Mascagni as his legal adviser, threatening Jim Cornette and Ring of Honor with legal action unless he was reinstated within three weeks.[45] On the December 3 edition of Ring of Honor Wrestling, Steen was granted a match with Steve Corino at Final Battle 2011, with his ROH future on the line.

At the event, Steen defeated Corino, thus granting back his career in ROH. Afterwards, he would proceed to deliver a package piledriver to Jimmy Jacobs, before putting El Generico through a table with the same maneuver. At the end of the evening, he confronted Davey Richards and promised to become the ROH World Champion in 2012.

On March 4, 2012, at the 10th Anniversary Show, Steen defeated Jimmy Jacobs in a No Holds Barred match and ended the pay-per-view by having another confrontation with Davey Richards.[48] Steen continued his win streak during the Showdown in the Sun weekend, first defeating El Generico, with help from Jimmy Jacobs, in a Last Man Standing match on March 30 and then Eddie Edwards in a singles match on March 31.
On May 12 at Border Wars, Steen defeated Davey Richards to win the ROH World Championship for the first time, making him the first Canadian to hold the championship. Following the match, Steve Corino entered the ring and hugged Steen and Jacobs,  the three men went on to form a stable later named S.C.U.M. (Suffering, Chaos, Ugliness, and Mayhem).

Steen made his first successful title defense on June 15, defeating Eddie Edwards. On June 24 at Best in the World 2012: Hostage Crisis, Steen defeated Davey Richards to retain the ROH World Championship.

At the following pay-per-view, Boiling Point on August 11, Steen successfully defended his title against Chikara Grand Champion Eddie Kingston. On September 15 at Death Before Dishonor X: State of Emergency, Steen made another successful title defense against Rhino. On October 6, a title match between Steen and Jay Lethal ended in a no contest in Lethal's home state of New Jersey, after which Steen spat at Lethal's parents, who were sitting at ringside.

Seven days later at the following internet pay-per-view, Glory By Honor XI: The Unbreakable Hope, Steen made a successful title defense against Michael Elgin. Afterwards, Steen was delivered a box, which contained El Generico's mask.

The rest of his run in RoH will, if nothing else be a bit different...will he end up working for Vince or TNA ?....probably not, but if anyone deserves a chance to make some serious coin, then I reckon Kev is the bloke

Just found out he has just done a shoot interview with Highspots...you bet ya arse than i'm getting that one....

CRAP-TACULAR

NOW its time for a few gimmicks that should never of got a start...but I sorta liked them

OZ/MASTER BLASTER/VINNIE VEGAS
$5 says Kevin Nash was happy to leave Turnerville

THE MAESTRO
He started out as Gorgeous George 3 in the USWA, he complained to WCW management after Randy Savage's former girlfriend and valet Stephanie Bellars began using the name Gorgeous George III, he later agreed to return to WCW full time after meeting with then WCW Vice President Eric Bischoff and returned as The Maestro with Symphony as his valet.

THE DEMON
Did Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley really need the money they got from WCW for using this godawful gimmick...must of,  anyway, KISS laughed all the way to the bank

MR HOLE IN ONE - BARRY DARSOW
After The Repo Man gimmick for Vince, Darsow returned to WCW wrestling under his real name, and then repackaged in October 1998 as "Stewart Pain", a villainous golf player named after Payne Stewart. He often entered the ring in casual wear and a flat cap as if ready to golf and, prior to matches, would offer his opponents a victory if they could make a putt in the ring, often only to sneak attack the opponent...

THE RENEGADE
After making his debut in 1992, he began performing on the independent circuit under the ring name Rio, Lord of the Jungle. He would also tour Japan for WAR....In 1995, Williams's career peaked when he was hired by World Championship Wrestling as Hulk Hogans  "Ultimate Surprise" they showed a silhouette of a man with long hair and tassels tied to his arms, implying that the Ultimate Warrior was the man in question. , Williams, under the ring name The Renegade, was billed by Hogan as "the man that's gonna bring Hulkamania into the 21st Century"....he got one TV title run...but an alledged cease and desist order from WWF had Jimmy hart burying him on tv saying "your not the renegade, your just plain Ric"...we all know what happened after that.

PN NEWS
PN News was a rapper gimmick,  he would rap before his matches.... News lost to Austin in a title match at Clash of the Champions XVII...Prior to leaving WCW, News botched his Broken Record finisher during a match against Dave Sheldon, where he splashed Sheldon's knees instead of his torso, effectively ending Sheldon's career.

LiL NAITCH
Referee Charles Robinson got lumbered with being Ric Flairs Super Fan ...please, really ?

JORGE GONZALES
El Gigante and in the WWF Giant Gonzales, argentianian basketball player who still had time to run on a Turner contract so they gave him to WCW to turn into a wrestler, didnt quite work, he then went to New York had a run with Taker, Jorge retired shortly after that and has passed away just recently...I did like one match of his, at GAB 90, Him  JYD and Orndorff agianst the Horseman...not a wrestling classic , but Arn and Barry sold for him wonderfully

THE ARTIST FORMERLY KNOWN AS PRINCE IAKEAU
I still cant figure this one out..WHY did they change him??...he was doing alright

SPEAKING OF WORKING FOR VINCE

MANTAUR
Mike Hallick debuted in the World Wrestling Federation as Mantaur, defeating Walter Snow. The Mantaur character was like a Minotaur would perform antics such as charging, trampling, mauling, and mooing at opponents.Soon after debuting, he acquired Jim Cornette as his manager.soon after that he vanished

TL HOPPER
the worlds most violent plumber, must of got hired on lawlers say so, a few Memphis guys showed up around this time

THE GOON
banned from hockey cause he was too violent...close but no cigar

ABE"KNUCKLEBALL"SCWHARTZ
Steve Lombardi has done many gimmicks for the E, this one was as a striking baseball player...NOW.. theres a company guy for you

NAKED MIDEON
This was a attempt at pushing the censors over the edge..RIGHT?...I didnt get it,, still dont, he shoulda stayed as Shanghai Peirce or even a fkn Goddwin for that matter

KERWIN WHITE
Chavo Jnr should get a medal for playing this steaming pile of crap, matter of fact so should Doplh Ziggler who was his caddy, got the feeling this was gonna be Darsow if  he stayed but he went back to WCW and stole the idea

BASTION BOOGER
Mike Shaw went from being a monster heel in Calgary to a insane Friar Tuck like character and after the NY Diocese complained, Vince turned him into Bastion Booger...that met with less sucess than the mad monk...shortly gone there after

YES , THEY WERE THE DRIZZLING SHIT'S....but they were good in a perverse sorta way
